Snow Goggles
skiing
looking swaggy while skiing is tricky. there are many disciplines, each requiring different equiptment to look swaggy. before we get into that, lets start with the universal items that regardless of what kind of skiing you are interested in getting into, they will always gain you swag points
Goggles
you're gonna want some goggles. you have some nice speed shades lying around and you think you might just throw those bad boys on? bad choice, you're gonna want some real bonafide ski goggles.
when youre cruising around the base of the mountain youre gonna see some real swagger hounds with some pretty dope goggles such as these
theser are the smith I/OX and the Oakley flight deck. Both of these goggles are swaggy but are gonna cost you anywhere from 120-200 clams depending on where you look. if you're getting started and that seems a little bit out of your budget then worry not, there are plenty of swaggy goggles on the market.
Let me introduce you to the smith squad. 100 dollars on the smith online store but one quick google search and i was able to find them for around 60 bucks. these are your best bet when it comes to goggles. they are the goggle of choice for many skiiers on a budget for several reasons.
Smith makes very high quality lenses that last a long time, are not prone to fogging, and dont scratch easily.
they have interchangable lenses. the squads come with two lenses, one dark, like the pair pictured above, and one light lense for foggy or low visibility days.
they look swaggy as hell
what youre missing
the squads have a flat lense, as you will notice in the above goggles they have a rounded lense which gives you slightly better peripherals and less distortion through the lense. I however, dont notice any difference
How to wear your goggles
this indevidual has a cool helmet, a dope face cover and some clearly expensive goggles. Pretty swaggy right? WRONG! this indevidual rider has a gao between the top of their goggles and the bottom of the front of their helmet, this is reffered to as the “gaper gap” (pronouced like paper) and is the least swaggy thing you can do. this is how jerrys (the opposite of a swagger hound) can easily be identified. make sure your goggles are fit snuggly against your hat or helmet.
I'm on the lift and want to take my goggles off, now what?
putting your goggles on top of your helmet is fine. its a pretty nuetral menuever. however i recomend against it because the moisture from the top of your helmet could get on the inside of your lenses which would make yyour goggles fog up mych quicker. the simple answer for how to take your goggles off for a lift ride is dont. if you do decide to become a park rat (one who spends their time entirely skiing freestyle in the park) you can push your goggle onto your forehead and your helmet up as well.
Goggle strap over or under the helmet?
whatever is comfortable, I personally wear them over the top but many chose to wear it below, like the above photo. start off with them on top and then as you develope your own style, try mixing it up. this requires no additional equiptment, just the tightening of a strap, so feel it out for yourself, you cant go wrong
and for the love of god, avoid this at all costs!!!
